We provide a 1 year warranty on all wood repairs. Top 4 areas where termites live Termites are more than just a common household pest;Reason, termites can be every homeowner’s worst nightmare. Why? Because termites cause an estimated $5 billion in damage each year according to the NPMA, with the average homeowner spending upwards of $3,000 in repairs. Luckily, the sooner a termite infestation is dealt with, the less it will cost you. Some of the common areas we check during a free inspection for signs of a termite infestation include these Top 4 household areas:

Hardwood Flooring
If you have a “slab” foundation, then termites can enter from the ground at any location and begin feeding on your hardwood floors. If your house has a sub-ground foundation, then begin your inspection near the edge of the floor since termites will enter from the perimeter of the foundation.

Garages and Workshops
Chances are good that your garage or workshop contains a considerable amount of wood (including tools, spare lumber, and firewood). When you’re working inside of your garage or workshop, be sure to keep an eye out for the tell-tale signs of a termite problem.

Attics and Crawlspaces
In most cases, subterranean termites must be in contact with soil to receive the moisture they need to survive. However, there are certain species of termite which are known to build above ground nests in dark and damp areas – areas much like your attic and crawlspace.

Exterior Foundations
Exterior inspections may provide you with the only opportunity to catch termites before they invade your home. Be sure to check the exterior foundation, siding, and wood carefully for signs of termite activity and areas where termites may enter your home (such as cracks in the foundation or siding).

Rodent Control in California

Our rodent control specialists, armed with your inspector’s diagram of the property, will remove rats and mice from your California home and business by sealing up all entry points with commercial grade materials, laying down traps and sanitizing infected areas. This will help eliminate the pheromones that rodents use to find their way back to your home time and time again.

3 Reasons rats are bad for your home

1. Electrical hazards
Rodents can chew and bite through electrical wires which may cause appliances and switches to short circuit or become a fire hazard.

2. Health hazards
Rodents contaminate homes with their hair, feces and urine which can spread gastrointestinal diseases (Salmonellosis or E-coli infections) and respiratory diseases (Hantavirus). The rat flea has been an important agent of transmission for Plague and Murine typhus.

3. Property damage
Rodents can burrow and gnaw through home property items as well as pipes which may result in further home damage.

All of our exclusive systems are designed based on severity of problem. HRBASIC is designed to seal all entry points for homes with a minor issue. The services progress to HRPRIME and HRX which is the all-encompassing service for the worst of cases. For a complete comparison of our HR Systems simply click here.

2-fold inspection protocol for maximum efficacy. 1st the inspector will draw a scale diagram of the home and note all entry points. 2nd the technician will continue to search for other entry points while installing the HR program. This inspection redundancy gives us the highest success rate in Southern California.

Attic Clean Out

The attic is the most over looked room in the house in determining the air quality of the home. The dust, debris and animal droppings can lead to a toxic living environment.

HALO’s “Revive” attic clean out program restores the attic space and eliminates 99.99% of pathogens.

It all works in a series of strategic steps.

On average our Revive system takes 1-2 days to complete. Home owners simply need to remove any storage from the attic.

On the first day our technicians begin by first removing the existing attic insulation (whether it is blown in or rolled-in) using a special vacuum / hose assembly. They will bag and haul the old insulation to the trash. This entire process can take several hours depending on the attic size and degree of difficulty to access the attic. For example, small attics may require our techs to crawl on their hands and knees the entire time whereas large attics allow them to stand up and move around freely.

After the old attic insulation has been removed, our technicians will then begin the process of vacuuming up all the rodent droppings. To kill all traces of bacteria, fungus, germs, odors and mildew, the technician use a biodegradable disinfectant called Steri-Fab® through a sprayer. It dries in 15-20 minutes leaves no residue or active ingredients. Plus, Steri-Fab® is fragrance and dye free.

Many of our clients utilize the Revive process in conjunction with our exclusive HRX rodent exclusion system. When clients have a rodent problem Step 2 is trapping the rodents trapped inside the house. Reinstalling insulation will occur after we are sure of rodent control.

Once full rodent control is determined we will install technologically advanced thermal acoustical pest insulation. The insulation not only saves money on heating and cooling but it protects against termites and pests. Welcome to the 21st century, welcome to Revive by HALO!

3 important reasons to clean and sanitize your attic
1. Health concerns
A decontaminated attic removes any health concerns associated with germs, spores and bacteria from rodent feces, urine and nests. This is especially true if rats or mice have defecated or urinated in attic air ducts that circulate air throughout a house.

2. Odor concerns
A sanitized attic eliminates any odors caused by rodents feces and urine or dead animals.

3. Home resale value
A clean germ-free attic with new insulation should impress potential home buyers. It shows your commitment to attic cleanliness and desire to lower heating and cooling costs. No home buyer will tolerate an attic covered with rodent droppings or filled with old and inadequate insulation that may not be up to building codes.
